Your Summer Guide to Plus Size Shorts

If you’re a plus size woman, the thought of wearing a pair of plus sized shorts could seem like a somewhat unappealing one. It definitely was for me! For the longest time, the only women I could think of who actually looked nice wearing shorts were either athletes or skinny super models. Luckily, plus size lines have been paying attention, and now trendy styles of shorts and swimwear are available.

Recently, there are a wide offering of brands to shop from when it comes to plus size swimsuits and clothing. All ages and conditions are taken into account, with stores just for juniors sizes and for maternity wear. But swim wear and summertime fashions have seemed to take a back seat. But with clever retailers such as Lane Bryant, Avenue, and Torrid, there is a nicely diverse range of options to choose from.

Other than the sizing, you’ll want to be mindful of length and style when deciding on your plus size shorts. Curvier hips and thighs means that a shorts on a rounder figure are best kept no shorter than mid-thigh length.  Capris and cropped pants are a perfect middle ground between shorts and full length pants.

The most flattering plus size shorts will have a flat front without a lot of embellishments.  Pleats generally do not work well with those who don’t have completely flat abs. Choosing two-pocket style shorts with a flat front, minimal design elements, and solid colors is always a classic look. A nice pair of shorts will match perfectly with your favorite tops, blouses and tee shirts as well. A plus size skirt is another stylish option. Once again, a longer skirt is the most appealing style.  Choose one that falls anywhere between just above your knee to ankle length for the most flattering appearance.

Get ready to sizzle this summertime in trendy and flattering plus sized swimwear and shorts!

Look Fabulous This Summer in Full Figure Swim Suits

Some women aren’t fond of wearing bathing suits unless they possess a so-called “perfect” body type.  But most of the “regular” women buying swim wear aren’t incredibly toned either. But we desire to feel sexy and pretty – whether we’re relaxing at the pool side or having a day at the beach. Full figure swim wear designers have really done an impressive job at recognizing this. A great thing is that there are a wide range of options ready for purchase for women of every shape and size.

Plus size swimsuits varieties are available in a wide range of unique styles.  A good amount of support and body coverage are great features, designed with the fuller figure woman in mind. The tankini is a fabulous option as a plus size bikini, with its two piece styling and extra support.  Adding a pair of plus size shorts is a fabulous way to turn your tankini or swimsuit into a lounging outfit. A woman can certainly be a bathing beauty, even with a rounder body shape!

Deciding upon a look that compliments your natural body shape and size is ideal. Sometimes a plus sized swimsuit top will allow more coverage. Halter tops or tops with a scooped neckline are very appealing.  These different styles will give the support one wants to feel confident and feel great in their swimsuit.  Full figure bathing suit bottoms commonly are designed shorts, briefs and skirts. You’ll be surprised at how flattering a skirted bathing suit bottom really is.  Combining brief bottoms with a stylish swim wear top gives you a fun and trendy look.

It’s a fact that a supermodel body figure is unrealistic for most women . But that doesn’t mean we can’t feel sexy and comfortable in our swim suit. Even if a customer is a size 2 or a size 28, it’s very common to go through body issues. When it comes to swimsuit shopping, women should remember that feeling good is the most important thing over everything else. Then buy that swimsuit you love, and have fun. There’s no one else who wears that plus size swimwear quite like you!
