Who was Marie Antoinette?
Marie Antoinette was an Archduchess of Austria and Queen of France and of Navarre. She was the fifteenth and penultimate child of Francis I, Holy Roman Emperor, and of Maria Theresa, Empress of Austria. When she was fourteen, on the day of her marriage to Louis-Auguste, Dauphin of France, she became Dauphine de France. When King Louis XV passed away, in May of 1774, young Louis-Auguste became Louis XVI, and teen Marie Antoinette became the Queen of France and of Navarre. After seven years of marriage, she gave birth to a daughter, Marie-Thérèse-Charlotte de France, the first of their four children. Marie Antoinette was not loved by the French people. Eventually, she was beheaded.
