Your Wedding Day: Putting Things into Perspective
So the time has finally come to start shopping for your bridal attire. During your quest to find the perfect bridal gown, you are suddenly distracted. As you head toward the bridal section you notice a nice little gift shop full of possible ideas for the perfect bridesmaid gift. There is no stopping you now. It looks like your day of shopping for your wedding attire has been sidetracked. What are you ever to do?
As usual you are so quick to buy something for someone else. Are bridesmaid gifts more important than your own wedding attire? As important as your girlfriends are, you owe it to them to buckle down and find the wedding attire of your dreams. Any real friend would not want you to put your wedding attire on hold in an effort to shop for a bridesmaid gift for them. So, while that perfect little trinket box is sending your eyes into a trance and you are thinking to yourself that it could definitely be perfect for your bridesmaid gifts, be fair to yourself and your bridesmaids and keep your wedding tasks into perspective.
Even if there are big lights flashing above saying “buy me, buy me,” try to stay away. While you are saying to yourself: “It is her favorite color and just the perfect size. This jewelry would make the perfect bridesmaid gift.”-try to do your best to resist the temptation…first things first.
Being the bride, you should organize a task list of all the things you must complete before your wedding day. Prioritizing this list will allow you to keep your sanity. While shopping for a special bridesmaid gift for each of your girlfriends may be number twenty on your list, it doesn’t make the task any less important than the preceding priorities.
Some suggest that setting a date, finding a location, reserving a caterer, finding wedding attire, and setting a budget should be first on the list of wedding priorities. In any case, the bride and groom should work very hard together to develop a realistic plan to follow during the wedding planning process. After all, planning a wedding can be a very time consuming process—not to mention, stressful! From booking a DJ to purchasing a bridesmaid gift, the list goes on and on.
If you make a task list for your wedding plans, you will find your wedding planning job to be much easier. Many brides set out shopping for one particular things and walk out of the store with a totally different item than they had set out to buy. Don’t be one of those brides—devise a task list and you won’t regret it!
