How to Shop for Petite Women's Clothing

A major consideration in your fashion sense is the size and shape of your frame. That's especially true with petite women's clothing. So, what do you like best about your body?Is your bust line your best feature?  How big are your hips?Think about the whole vision you are creating, Think vertical.

There is no such thing as a standard petite size woman. In general you terms "petites" means a woman who is under average female height, or about five foot four. But how tall you look is only one part of the formula.  Some short women have big busts, others practically none.Other women have legs that are shorter than the rest their bodies. Some have really long sexy legs. Then there are hips, and don't get me started on hips. A much undeserved group in the apparel industry are petite plus size women.

This is why it's often more difficult to find well fitting clothes for a petite woman, than a plus size woman.Petite girls can easily get away with form fitting clothing, but stay away from clothes that are the least bit baggy. And alterations to pant legs and skirt hems can sometimes be necessary.

You can find everything you need if you remember one thing, and that is to try to create one straight line from toe to top of the head.Any fabric with a vertical print, like pinstripes, will be best.Shirts with a line of buttons and tops with V necks are also great choices. Nothing makes a petite size woman look better than high heels. They give you an elongated form?

When it comes to pattern, don't go for splashy prints or colors leaning toward the neon spectrum. It's much more important to pick small or delicate prints and motifs. You choice of fabric can be varied more easily.Choose knits or charmeuse silk.  Let pattern rule. At all costs, avoid those horrendous horizontal stripes.  If you can find something with a thin stripe that goes up and down, so much the better.

Don't chop up your total image by choosing widely different colors for your top and pants or skirt.Achieving a unified look from head to toe is really the best way to go.  And wide belts?Nope, definitely not.  Belts cut you in two, and again it's a horizontal line, not the desired vertical line.If you want to look taller, try wearing tunic tops. because they bypass the waist line they'll increase your visual height. Choose dresses that hug your body. Avoid dresses with full skirts.

Accessorize with a thin long scarf and necklaces of 18 inch or longer.  Long boots instead of ankle length ones. Long sleeves instead of short ones. Well, you understand. A coat that comes below your knees rather than a short of cropped jacket.

Shopping for great petite women's clothing is much more difficult than shopping for plus size clothing, because the department stores don't really cater to petites. If they do, they gear the styles toward teens and young girls, not women with careers and families.

Thanks to the internet shopping is simple. With online shopping, everything you can imagine is right in front of you. Some online shops can pull styles from several big offline stores and give you one place shopping.

Look for vertical lines and stay away from bold patterns and make the most of your pretty legs. You'll look lovely!
